The Manorfields herd of Oxford Sandy and Black Pigs was established by Peter in 2004 as a continuation of a family tradition. His grandfather was the last commercial Oxford Sandy and Black pig breeder of Oxfords in the 1950’s, with the Duchess bloodline. Peter is a past Chairman of the Society and is currently Treasurer and Pat is currently Show Secretary of the Oxford Sandy and Black Pig Society.
We purchased our first Sandy and Black in pig gilt, Dewlish Clare and our first Sandy and Black boar Tadney’s Alexander from Ross sale, in 2004.
We now have 8 of the 13 female lines. They include: Clare × 2, Duchess × 3, Lady × 2, Iris × 1, Sybil × 1, Clarissa × 1, Dandy × 1 and Gloria × 1. We have a Cynthia on order.
Our boar lines at the moment are: Alistair, Clarence and Jack.
We are passionate about preserving all the lines and show annually at Moreton in the Marsh Show in September.
Please do contact us if you require any breeding stock or weaners for fattening.
We now have an additional "Iris" bloodline. Our gilt has just farrowed and had a fantastic litter of 12 piglets. The boar that we are using at the moment is Butts Alistair, whom we purchased last year, full brother to the Reserve Champion of Champions at Newbury last year also. His first litters are very promising.
We invariably have young rare breed pig stock for sale which can be used for breeding as well as fattening.
