Welsh Ponies and Cobs, Oxfordshire
Welsh Mountain Pony (Section A)
We are retaining these two lovely fillies.
We shall be breeding from 7 Section A mares, in alternate years.
They are: Manorfields Sable, Manorfields Tiger Lily, Manorfields Peony, Manorfields Kirstin, Manorfields Trifle, Cui Dolly and Synod Little Dazzle.
Our Section A stallion is Pendock Torchlight, he is eleven years old and we are continually pleased with his off-spring.
Welsh Pony Section B
We only have one Welsh Pony (Section B) mare, Monolaw Maggie May, that we show very successfully locally.
Welsh Pony of Cob Type (Section C)
Manorfields Flyboy and Manorfields Fable were both successfuly sold locally last year. Our only remaining Section C is Manorfields Finch, a grey filly.
She has been backed and has started her education well. She is going back to continue her training in a few weeks and we hope to show her this season (2016).
She is a lovely correct, good moving filly, out of Talsarn Mayfly by Manorfields Kestrel, who himself was by Springbourne Hector. Eventually we shall breed from her.
Welsh Cob (Section D)
Our Welsh Cob (Section D) enterprise started 20 years ago when we purchased Six Oakes Prince David and were given Madeni Brenda from Mrs Alison Mountain at Twyford Stud. We have bred a total of eight full Welsh cob's, all of whom are performing well. The latest success being Manorfields Marquis, who won his first Prix St. George in July 2008 aged 16 years. A fantastic achievement for a full Welsh cob.
We believe Marquis to have gained the most dressage points for a full Welsh Cob ever, in the World.
Manorfields Matilda, is now very sadly deceased We are retaining her last colt foal, now a rising three year old gelding (Manorfields Magician), who is by Maesmynach Enchanter, one of the best performance cobs in the country. Hopefully he will continue to grow into an outstanding and kind horse for Peter to keep as his last ridden homebred youngster. We are not going to breed any more Section Ds.
Part Bred Welsh Ponies and Cobs
We also breed large and small part-bred ponies. Large part-bred ponies that have done well out of our thoroughbred mares by Six Oaks Prince David include: Beau Gueste ( 17hh, eventer), Bluebell (dressage) and Betsy (champion small hunter and brood mare).
Betsy is now the property of Mrs. J Cope, winning the Kent County Show, the Thames Valley Show and came 2nd at the National Hunter Show. Her three foals have been unbeaten.
Manorfield Tarquin, 10 years, has been bought back as a riding horse for our daughter.
Manorfield Megastar was succesfully sold last year.
